    DONATO CASCIANO (Age 79)
    Of Washington, D.C., died July 7, 2014, at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center in Arlington, Va. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Leonard and Amelia (Ronca) Casciano. Dan graduated from Muhlenberg College with a degree in Physics and went on to work for the U.S. Government in the Department. of Defense where he was awarded a Sustained Superior Performance Award and a Meritorious Civilian Service Award. He also held a Professional Engineering License, and later worked as Chief Engineer for the Omni Shoreham Hotel. He was an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed camping and swimming. Surviving: He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Mary Rose Mavis; nieces Rose Marie Mavis, Susan Mavis Schwoyer; nephew John Mavis. Services will be held at Cantelmi Funeral Home on July 12, 2014. Additional service information can be found at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com

    Mary Rose Mavis, born in Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully in the care of Scenic View Personal Care Home, Palmerton, PA. She was 93 years old. She previously resided in Bethlehem, PA. Mary Rose was the daughter of the late Amelia (Ronca) and Leonard Casciano and was predeceased by her husband, John Jordan Mavis, her son, John Joseph Mavis, her daughter-in-law, Faye Baxevane Mavis and her brother, Donato Casciano.

    Mary Rose is survived by her loving daughters, Rose Marie Mavis and Susan Schwoyer (Scott), her daughter-in-law, Nell Ryan, and her grandchildren, Nicole Mavis (Mike Linde), Derek Schwoyer, Erika Schwoyer, Jennifer Schwoyer and Samantha Schwoyer.

    She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and took pride as a homemaker in caring for her family and hosting gatherings, at which she would regale everyone with her accomplished piano playing. Mary Rose was an avid cook and baker, winning local contests and prizes. Her love of gardening was a source of joy and she came to be known locally as the Tomato Lady. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and would look forward to entering local craft shows, which included her signature Christmas tree napkins. She enjoyed the warmth of the sun and that's where you could always find her in the summer months. But mostly she enjoyed sharing her heart and home with others.

    Service: Funeral Service 11:00AM Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem, PA. Family and friends may call from 10 to 11:00AM Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the funeral home.
