- Obituary: Ross George Jamieson
Born December 22, 1930, Ross passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Royal Gardens Retirement Residence in Peterborough on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Predeceased by his much- loved wife, Nancy (née Minicola); he leaves his sister Lois (Andre); and his sons David (Cynthia); Paul (Cheryl); his daughters Susan (John); Lisa (Scott); grandfather to Theresa, Kyla, Bradley, Madelaine, Kendra, Jack, Stuart, Jeffrey, Andie, John Ross, Alexandra, and Jamieson. He also leaves his companion and dance partner of many years, Margaret Price. Ross will be lovingly remembered as a devoted father and grandfather, and over the years became well-known for his love of providing sleigh, tractor, and snowmobile rides to the kids. In his youth he was very active and social; enjoying pond hockey, baseball, curling, hunting, and snowmobiling with family and friends. His passion was farming, whether it was bringing in the hay, tending to his raspberries, or tapping his sugar maple trees.
In addition to farming, Ross was employed by General Electric in Peterborough as an industrial cost accountant for over 30 years. During his well deserved retirement, Ross enjoyed boating in the Peterborough area with Nancy and family and was also involved in municipal politics; serving on Cavan Council in the 1990's.
Born and raised in Mount Pleasant, ON, the son of Bertha (Lowes) and Harry Jamieson; Ross remained a lifelong resident of the area, returning to the family homestead (established in 1875) in 1984.
Ross will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the ICU nurses at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre as well as the nurses and support workers in the Palliative Care Unit at the Royal Gardens who provided exceptional care and much kindness.
Ross's family will receive extended family and friends at the Nisbett Funeral Home - 600 Monaghan Road on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:00 am. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Memoriam at www.heartandstroke.com.
